Artist's Biography
|
|
|
Jan Jensen’s first love is drawing and
painting the natural, wild world. A native of the Pacific Northwest,
she discovered her deep sensitivity to the details of nature early in
life. From childhood, even common-place things held her attention. She
loved seeing her father, a carpenter, put pencil to paper; and watched
intently as his drawings came to life. Jan began sketching at the age
of ten, and never went anywhere without her sketchbooks.
After years working in other media, Jan
discovered the challenge and delight of watercolor, and began her
richly rewarding study of the transparent medium. Since 1994, she has
worked with nationally noted watercolorists Robert and Sharon Long. In
recent years, Jan has taught her own workshops in "The Art of
Watercolor."

Jan’s approach to her intricate and lively paintings has been
deeply enriched by her avid pursuit of many outdoor activities,
from backpacking and horseback riding to sport fishing in the
waters of the scenic Pacific Northwest.
